Block Diwas: DDC Shopian visits Check-i-Saidpora; chairs Public Outreach programme

Shopian, May 11: As part of weekly Block Diwas initiative of government, a Public Outreach programme presided over by District Development Commissioner, (DDC) Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya was today held within the premises of Government Boys Primary School, Chek-i-Saidpora Shopian.

The Chief Planning Officer, Khursheed Ahmed Khatana, Chief Education Officer, Block Development Officer and other district officers and officials, besides a large number of people attended the programme.

The programme witnessed scores of individuals and deputations including PRI members projecting demands and apprising the DDC about the problems faced by the inhabitants of their respective areas.

The people submitted a memorandum of demands highlighting issues and their resolution including better road connectivity, sanctioning of PMAY cases, drinking water supply and installation of Transformers, electric poles, shortage of staff in education department besides other amenities.

Listening patiently to the demands of people, DDC passed on spot instructions to the concerned departments for time bound resolution of all the issues.

Speaking at the event, Vaishya said that the government has launched several initiatives to promote self employment among youth to make them self-reliant by taking up various livelihood activities. He said schemes like PMEGP, NRLM, MUMKIN, etc need to be availed by more youth of both rural and urban areas to explore the new avenues of income generation as per their skills and interest.

He appealed to PRIs to come forward in identifying eligible and deserving people to get benefitted from youth centric schemes.
