Verinag gunfight: One militant killed, cop injured; operation on

Verinag, Oct 11 : An unidentified militant was killed and a policeman suffered injuries an encounter that broke out between militants and security forces at Khagund area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Monday.

Police sources told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that one militant has been killed, and a cop got injured saying that identification of both is being ascertained. The operation is going on in the area, they said.

North Kashmir: Gunfight breaks out in Bandipora

A fierce Gunfight broke out between militants and government forces in GundJahangir area of Hajin in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Monday.

Reports reaching GNS that a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Hajin.

As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off an gunfight.

A senior police officer also confirmed to GNS about exchange of firing between militants and security forces.

As per the sources two to three militants are believed to be trapped.

Pertinently, one militant was killed in wee hours today in Anantnag Gunfight.(GNS)
