PM assures all help to quake-hit Assam

New Delhi, Apr 28 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured all possible help from the Centre to Assam which was hit by an earthquake on Wednesday morning.

An earthquake, measuring 6.7 on the Richter Scale, occurred at 0751 hrs with its epicentre at Sonitpur district in Assam, a seismologist at the Regional Seismological Centre said.

“Spoke to Assam CM Shri @sarbanandsonwal Ji regarding the earthquake in parts of the state. Assured all possible help from the Centre. I pray for the well-being of the people of Assam,” Mr Modi said in a tweet.

The earthquake was felt in some parts of Assam, Meghalaya, and adjoining areas of the north-eastern region, besides parts of Bhutan and Bangladesh.
