Assam: PM Modi to address public rally in Karimganj today

Guwahati, Mar 18:  After the election dates were announced for poll bound Assam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address his first public rally in Karimganj district in Southern Assam today.

PM Modi will address his rally in Batgram that falls under the Karimganj North assembly constituency.

PM Modi is expected to address the rally around 2 pm. Security has been beefed up in Karimganj ahead of the prime minister’s visit.

There are 15 assembly constituencies in the Barak Valley that comprises the districts of Karimganj, Cachar and Hailakand, which are crucial to BJP in 2021 assembly elections, where it is facing a stiff opposition from the Congress-AIUDF alliance.

On January 23, PM Modi visited Sivasagar and distributed land patta documents to 1.06 lakh landless indigenous people of the state.

On February 18, he virtually launched the ‘Mahabahu-Brahmaputra’, laid the foundation stone of Dhubri-Phulbari Bridge and performed bhumi pujan for construction of a bridge in Majuli.

Assam is going to polls in three phases this time.

Voting for the first phase will be held on March 27 second phase on April 1 and for the last phase on April 6. Votes of all the phases will be counted on May 2.
