Atal Dulloo visits Gandhi Nagar COVID19 Hospital

Hospital to be upgraded to Level 3 with tertiary care facilities
JAMMU, APRIL 10: Financial Commissioner (FC), Health and Medical Education Department, Atal Dulloo Friday visited the Government Gandhi Nagar Hospital and inspected the isolation facilities established in the newly set-up block to deal with the corona pandemic.

During his visit to the hospital, the FC directed the authorities to follow all health care guidelines that are being issued from time to time. He said that the department will upgrade the Gandhi Nagar Hospital to a Level 3 hospital and will be equipped with all the tertiary care facilities to handle the COVID-19 effectively.

The FC during a recent meeting had directed the health officers to upgrade Level 2 hospitals to Level 3 and Level 1 to Level 2 hospitals so as to lower the burden on the tertiary care health institutions.

In its efforts to tackle the corona pandemic effectively, the government had converted Gandhi Nagar Hospital into COVID-19 exclusive hospital with designation of Level-2 hospital.

The FC reviewed the steps taken by the COVID hospital for handling corona pandemic in terms of isolation facilities, fostering social distance, preventing intermingling of patients and advised the concerned officials to maintain hygiene and cleanliness in the hospital.

The FC was informed by the Medical Superintendent L D Bhagat that the 200 bedded new block of the hospital is ready to handle the COVID-19 patients. He informed that all the protocols are being followed and every effort is being made to provide proper care to the patients.

Atal Dulloo appreciated the efforts of the doctors, nurses, paramedical staff and other departments for making the hospital ready in a short period of time. He said that these are tough times but the dedication and hard work of the frontline health workers of the hospital is laudable.

The FC was accompanied by Director (Coordination) New Medical Colleges, Dr Yashpal Sharma; Chief Engineer R&B; Chief Engineer Mechanical and other officers of the health department.
