Budgam Bypolls: Deputy CM, Nasir Aslam Wani meet MP Aga Ruhullah at his home

Srinagar: Amid reports suggesting Nasir Aslam Wani, advisor to chief minister Omar Abdullah, will be the National Conference candidate for Budgam bypolls, he along with deputy chief minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary met Member of Parliament Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi at his residence today.

Speaking with reporters, the deputy chief minister, as per news agency (KNO) that they met Ruhullah for a cup of tea at his residence.

“I feel proud to meet Aga Ruhullah, who is not only a political leader but a religious cleric as well,” he said.

The meeting comes amid differences between MP Aga Ruhullah and the National Conference, particularly after the MP led a youth protest outside chief minister’s Gupkar residence over reservation policy row.

The meeting also holds significance after reports emerged that Nasir Aslam Wani will likely be contesting the upcoming bypolls from Budgam seat. The seat felt vacant after chief minister Omar Abdullah decided to keep Ganderbal seat following his win from both seats – Budgam and Ganderbal – in the assembly elections last year.

When asked who will be the party’s candidate from Budgam seat, the deputy chief minister said that they met MP Ruhullah at his home for a cup of tea and let’s talk about that only.

He also congratulated Budgam people for having a station of Vande Bharat and stated that the train services will give a push to tourism—(KNO)
