Fire Guts Three Houses, Damages Several Shops In Poonch’s Kharpa Village

Poonch, Oct 13: Three residential houses and several shops were gutted in a fire that broke out in Kharpa village of Loran in Mandi tehsil of Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, causing extensive damage to property, officials said.

The fire reportedly broke out near the main market area and spread to adjoining structures, engulfing residential houses and commercial establishments. The flames triggered concern among local residents, who joined efforts to prevent the blaze from spreading further.

Fire and Emergency Services personnel, assisted by police and local residents, rushed to the spot and launched firefighting operations to bring the blaze under control.

Preliminary reports suggest that a short circuit may have triggered the fire; however, the exact cause has not been officially established.

No loss of life or injuries have been reported so far. The extent of the financial losses is being assessed. [KNT]
