Infiltration attempts are being made to keep the terrorism alive that is dying a slow death: DGP

Srinagar, June 17 :A Day after a major infiltration bid was foiled, Jammu and Kashmir Police chief Dilbag Singh said some attempts to push militants are being made just to keep the terrorism alive.

He said the anti infiltration grid at the border is strong enough to thwart all such attempts which are being made from Pakistan.

“Some attempts from across the LoC ( Line of Control) are being made continuously to push in terrorists just to keep the terrorism alive that is dying a slow death,” he told reporters after inaugurating the Jashn-e-Dal festival here.

The Director General of Police Singh said that Security forces have foiled the majority of infiltration bids this year and asserted that the anti infiltration grid at the border is strong enough to thwart all such attempts which are being made from Pakistan.

Only yesterday, security forces foiled a first major infiltration bid and shot dead five suspected foreign infiltrators of “JK Ghaznavi Force” in an encounter close to the Line of Control in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The DGP said the ceasefire understanding along the LoC between India and Pakistan is being respected “by and large” by both sides.
“ However, there have been some infiltration attempts by terrorists, especially in the Rajouri-Poonch sector and the Kupwara sector. We have taken action against the infiltrating groups,” he added.
To a query about arrangements for the upcoming Yatra, the DGP said that all the security arrangements are being made to ensure smooth and peaceful pilgrimage.

“We will ensure every pilgrim goes back with great memories,” he said.

He congratulated the youth of Jammu and Kashmir for rejecting the terrorism and having chosen peace over death and destruction.

Regarding narcotic and drugs, the DGP said that a social initiative within the society is most needed and he appealed to the people to come forward and help in uprooting the evil from our society.
Earlier DGP said that the security situation was getting better and better.

“ The anti national elements are hatching conspiracies to disrupt the peace. Our resolve to thwart each conspiracy with strong hands will continue,” he added.
