Woman Dies After Setting Herself Ablaze Over Alleged Family Dispute in Hazratbal

Srinagar, Apr 28,: A woman lost her life after setting herself on fire following a family dispute in the Hazratbal area on the outskirts of Srinagar on Monday.

According to officials, the woman, originally from Shalimar and married in Hazratbal, sustained critical burn injuries after dousing herself in kerosene. She was immediately shifted to JLNM Hospital Rainawari but succumbed to her injuries during treatment.

Soon after the incident, SDPO Zakura, SHO Nigeen, and DO Hazratbal rushed to the scene to take stock of the situation.

A police official confirmed the woman’s death, adding that she was a mother of two.

Police have taken cognizance of the matter and further investigations are underway. [KNT]
