Sand miner drowns in river Jhelum

Pulwama: A man lost his life while excavating sand from the Jhelum River in Kakapora Hajibal, area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama, Thursday morning.
Officials told the news agency JKNS that the incident occurred early in the morning when a traditional sand miner lost his life while excavating sand from the Jhelum River in Hajibal, Kakapora.
He was identified as Raqib Ahmad, son of Mohammad Ismail Dar, a resident of Hajibal and currently living in Lethpora, Kakapora, Pulwama. Despite efforts to rescue him, he could not be saved.
Meanwhile, an investigation has been taken up.—(JKNS)
