Drug Peddler arrested, Contraband substance recovered :Police

Srinagar: Srinagar Police have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

In a statement issued to Asian Mail, a police spokesperson said that A police party of Police Station Nowhatta during a routine naka checking at Malkha Chowk, Nowhatta intercepted a suspicious person.

He said that the accused was identified as Sajad Sheikh, son of Baktawar Sheikh, Resident of Sheikh Colony, Hawal. During the search, approximately 3.370 kilograms of charas powder-like substance and 20 grams of charas was recovered from his possession and he has been arrested.

Meanwhile a case vide FIR No. 55/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Nowhatta and further investigation initiated.
