Paras Health Srinagar marks World Diabetes Day & Children’s Day with educational awareness programs and free consultation for Children below 18 yrs

Srinagar: To mark World Diabetes Day and Children’s Day on November 14, Paras Health Srinagar is initiating a series of educational and health services aimed at raising awareness about growth & development factors, juvenile diabetes, obesity, and preventive care for children and adolescents. This campaign highlights the importance of early diagnosis of diseases which impacts on overall growth and development in children and management of diabetes, along with addressing the rising prevalence of childhood obesity. Through these initiatives, Paras Health seeks to empower families with information and resources to protect and improve children’s long-term health outcomes.

November 14 & 16, Paras Health Srinagar will provide free outpatient (OPD) consultations for children under 18 from any speciality. Parents are encouraged to bring their children in for comprehensive evaluations conducted by pediatric specialists, Dentist, Ophthalmologist, pulmonologist,Gynecologist etc. These consultations are accompanied by educational programs held in local schools and colleges to promote healthy lifestyle choices, the benefits of physical activity, and the role of balanced nutrition in supporting children’s growth and well-being.

“Juvenile diabetes, or Type 1 diabetes, can develop at an early age and requires careful management and prompt diagnosis. In Type 1 diabetes, the immune system mistakenly targets insulin-producing cells in the pancreas, resulting in insulin deficiency. Children with Type 1 diabetes may experience symptoms like increased thirst, frequent urination, weight loss, extreme hunger, fatigue, and mood changes. Recognizing these signs early allows for timely intervention and effective treatment, helping children live healthier lives,” said Dr. Mahroosa, Endocrinologist.

Paras Health’s pediatric team works closely with families to encourage regular health checks, balanced diet & lifestyle habits to supportchildren’s overall well-being.

In addition to juvenile diabetes awareness, this initiative addresses the growing issue of childhood obesity, a major risk factor for Type 2 diabetes and other health complications. Paras Health Srinagar is offering discounted screenings for Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) for adolescent girls, a condition often associated with obesity and insulin resistance. Early Screening for PCOS is important, as it can help manage symptoms like acne, hair loss, and irregular cycles while reducing long-term health risks.

To further support preventive health, Paras Health is offering two affordable health check packages for children. The basic health package andthe advanced full body check at an affordable price.

Additionally, Paras Health is offering flu vaccines at a discounted price by experts, an important preventive step, especially for children managing chronic conditions like respiratory discomfort & diabetes. The flu vaccine helps boost immunity and is recommended as an essential health measure during the winter months.

By focusing on children’s health awareness, Paras Health Srinagar aims to support families in making informed choices and prioritizing preventive care. On this Children’s Day, a preventive healthcare campaign provides an opportunity to offer free consultations, educational resources, and affordable health checks to ensure that children in the community can grow up healthy, active, and well-informed about their health.
