Director Law Enforcement J&K along-with team inspects pesticide, fertilizer dealers in Central & South Kashmir

Seizes 25 MTs of non-standard Vermi compost from Pulwama

Srinagar:  The Director Law Enforcement J&K, Mohammad Ilyas Khatib along with the team of Enforcement Officers inspected various pesticides, fertilizer dealers in south and central Kashmir districts including Pulwama, Shopian, Kulgam, Anantnag, Budgam and Srinagar.

During the inspection, the team seized 25 metric tonnes of non-standard vermi compost from Pulwama district. Sale Stop notice was issued to three dealers while the warning notice was issued to four dealers.

The Director Law Enforcement J&K said  that all the concerned officers from across all the districts have been directed to check if there are any spurious pesticides, fertilizers in the division.

He impressed upon all the stakeholders to ensure that only the quality/ genuine inputs (insecticides/ pesticides/ fertilizers) is made available to the farming community.

Ilyas Khatib asked the  concerned dealers to strictly follow the insecticides act 1968 and fertilizer control order 1985 during the handling of insecticides, pesticides and fertilizers. He asked them to keep their records updated.

He said a coordinated approach among the stakeholders is necessary for upholding the interests of the farming community of the region.

He passed on instructions to the concerned enforcement officers to conduct routine checking and ensure the availability of quality pesticides, fertilizers.

Director law enforcement j&k further directed the Officers to work in coordination with the farmers so that scope for spurious pesticide/ fertilizer is minimized and ultimately eradicated from the society.
