3 Accused Arrested in Sopore’s Two Burglary Cases, Stolen Property Recovered

Sopore: Two burglary cases were solved in north Kashmir’s Sopore district after arresting three accused persons with recovery of stolen property worth lakhs of rupees from their possession, police said on Saturday.

In a statement issued to Asian Mail, Police spokesperson said that Police Station Sopore received a written complaint from one person namely Gulshana Begum wife of Aashiq Hussain, a resident of Kralteng Sopore stating therein that she went her sons home residing nearby her house, upon returning home, she discovered theft of jewelry worth lakhs in her house.”

They said that a case FIR No. 176/2024 under section 331(3) and 305 of IPC Act was registered at Police Station Sopore and investigation was initiated.

“On the directions of SP Sopore Divya D, an investigation team comprising of SHO PS Sopore Insp. Ayaz Gellani and other officials of PS Sopore under the supervision of SDPO Sopore Sarfaraz Bashir were constituted,” police said.

During the course of investigation, the investigating team with strenuous efforts apprehended one Saqib Lateef Sofi son of Abdul Lateef Sofi, a resident of Sempora Sopore, who confessed to committing the theft, police said, adding, “On further investigation involvement of Aabid Ahmad Lone son of Ghulam Mohiudin Lone, a resident of Zaloora Sopore and one jewelry shop owner (S S Jewelers Iqbal Market, Sopore) namely Shakoor Ahmad Zargar son of Mohammad Shafi Zargar, a resident of Nigeenbagh Sopore came to fore and they were eventually apprehended.”

The jewelry articles recovered from the possession of three accused persons include one kitty set, nine golden rings, one big jhumka, one small jhumka, five golden coins and two earrings, amounting Rs. 6,10,000.

“Furthermore, a cash amount of Rs. 1,30,000 was recovered from the possession of accused Saqib Ahmad Sofi in case FIR No. 200/2024 under relevant sections of law as the theft took place at Iqbal Nagar Sopore on 14 August 2024. Total recovery in both the cases including cash and jewelry costs Rs. 7,45,000,” police added.
