Srinagar: Baramulla Police have taken cognizance of an interreligious marriage case after a missing report was filed by the girl’s father in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
According to an official statement, a missing report was lodged at Police Station Kreeri on August 16, 2024, regarding the daughter of Gh Mohi-ud-din Sheik (details withheld), who had been missing since that morning. On August 23, 2024, it was discovered that the girl had converted and married Sagar Pradeep Singh of Navi Mumbai (details withheld) on August 19, 2024. In response, the police have registered a case under relevant sections of the law.
A police spokesperson further revealed that Baramulla district’s cyber patrol unit has observed several miscreants and anti-social elements creating and sharing posts related to the incident in an attempt to incite unrest. The sharing of misleading or inflammatory content is a violation of various laws and will result in strict legal action, including the initiation of criminal proceedings.
The police have advised the public not to share or repost any misleading or inflammatory content related to this incident. Those who have already shared such content are urged to delete it immediately.
