Swachhata Pakhwada: SMC undertakes Special Sanitation Drive in and around Government Hospitals

Srinagar: In a proactive step towards maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards in Srinagar, the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) has launched a special sanitation drive centered on Government hospitals viz. LD Hospital, Bone & Joint Hospital, SKIMS Medical College Bemina, JLNM Hospital Rainawari and SMHS Hospital.

Besides, it has also organised training on bio-medical waste management training programs for staff as part of the Swachhata Pakhwada Campaign.

The primary objective of this sanitation initiative was to ensure cleanliness and sanitation in and around Government hospitals in Srinagar, with a specific focus on creating a hygienic environment for patients, visitors, and healthcare workers. Through this organized cleanup effort, the SMC aims to emphasize the importance of a clean and healthy environment within healthcare facilities.

Aligned with the Nationwide Swachhata Pakhwada campaign, a movement advocating for cleaner surroundings and enhanced sanitation practices across all sectors, the SMC’s activities in and around Government hospitals aim to raise awareness about the critical role of cleanliness in promoting public health and well-being.

Commissioner SMC, Dr. Owais Ahmed expressed his support for the initiative, stating, “The Srinagar Municipal Corporation is committed to fostering a culture of cleanliness and hygiene in our city. Through this special sanitation drive, we are actively working to establish a cleaner and healthier environment in and around Government hospitals.”

The SMC encourages residents, hospital staff, and volunteers to actively engage in the Swachhata Pakhwada Campaign, contributing to the ongoing efforts to promote cleanliness in Srinagar. By collectively embracing cleanliness as a fundamental value, we can foster a more sustainable and vibrant community for all.
