‘World Hepatitis Day’ celebrated across Ganderbal

Ganderbal: To mark the celebration of World Hepatitis Day, the Chief Medical Office (CMO) Ganderbal today organized a Screening Camp at the District Hospital Ganderbal.

The event was inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir. He highlighted the significance of raising awareness about viral hepatitis and promoting public health measures in the district.

The celebrations, besides being held at District Hospital; were a district-wide initiative, with all health facilities in Ganderbal participating actively. The day’s activities focused on the theme of ‘Eliminating Hepatitis,’ with an emphasis on education, prevention, and testing.

As part of the event, over 1000 individuals were tested for viral hepatitis across the district, showcasing a robust response from the community and health workers alike. The testing campaign aimed to identify undiagnosed cases, provide necessary medical advice, and reduce the spread of the virus.

The DC in his inaugural speech, commended the efforts of the healthcare staff and emphasized the importance of early detection and treatment of hepatitis. He also urged the public to take advantage of the free testing services and seek medical care if needed.

The CMO Ganderbal, addressed the gathering, highlighting the district’s commitment to combating viral hepatitis.

He stressed the importance of community awareness and the role of healthcare facilities in providing essential services and support to those affected.

The event also featured educational sessions on hepatitis prevention, vaccination, and treatment options.

Health professionals provided valuable information to the attendees, including the significance of safe practices, such as proper hygiene and vaccination, in preventing the transmission of the virus.

The celebration of World Viral Hepatitis Day in Ganderbal reflects the district’s dedication to public health and the well-being of its residents.
