40 year-old man slips to death in river Jehlum in Bandipora


Srinagar : A 40-year-old man slipped to his death in the Jhelum River in Gund Prang village of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Wednesday.

Sources told the news agency Kashmir Scroll said that the man, identified as Abdul Rahim Lone, the son-in-law of Ghulam  Mohideen Rather and a resident of Gund Prang area of Hajin, slipped into the Jhelum River and drowned while fetching drinking water.

They said that shortly after the incident, locals and a police party from Police Station Hajin rushed to the spot and immediately initiated a rescue operation to retrieve the body.

The body was recovered hours after the drowning.

After completing legal formalities, the body was handed over to his family for the final rites.
