Man Arrested in Sopore, 13 Codeine Phosphate Bottles Recovered

Sopore: Police on Saturday said that they have arrested a man carrying with him 13 bottles of Codeine Phosphate in north Kashmir’s Sopore.

Police spokesperson said that the deployed personnel during patrolling at Baghat Butpora Sopore detected a suspicious movement of a person having a polythene bag in his hand.

“During his search, the party was able to recover 13 bottles of Codeine Phosphate each 100 ml from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to a police station where he remains in custody,” police said.

The accused has been identified as Aijaz Ahmad Najar son of Ghulam Din Najar R/O Mumkak Butpora Sopore.

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 29 of 2024 under 8/21 section of NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Sopore and further investigation has been initiated, police added.
