2 security personnel killed, 8 injured in blast in SW Pakistan

Islamabad: A blast hit Pakistan’s southwest Balochistan province on Thursday afternoon, leaving at least two security personnel killed and eight others injured, official sources said.

A vehicle of paramilitary forces came under attack near Lijjay area of Kharan district of the province, official sources told Xinhua, adding that the personnel were deployed on the security of a polling station in the district for the ongoing general elections.

Following the attack, rescue teams, police and security forces reached the site and shifted the injured to a nearby hospital.

Local police said that an improvised explosive device was planted along the roadside and was detonated with a remote-controlled device.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
