4 LeT Militant Associates Arrested Along With Arms And Ammunition In Baramulla: Police

Srinagar: Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested four militant associates affliated with Lashkar-i-Toiba oufit along with arms and ammunition in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

In a handout to GNS, the police said that on 30/10/2023 during naka checking at Naradhiri Dangerpora junction joint teams of Baramulla Police along with 52 RR & 53 Bn CRPF apprehended two persons namely Gh Hassan Mir son of Gh Rasool Mir resident of Muran Tangwari Chandoosa and Mukhtar Ahmad Khan son of Mohd Afzal Khan resident of Pinjwara Laridora Chandoosa who upon seeing joint parties of security forces tried to flee from the spot  but were tactfully apprehended and upon their search 1 Chinese Pistol, 1 Pistol magazine, 12 live rounds and 2 hand grenades were recovered from their possession.

The police spokesman further stated that to this effect case FIR no. 68/2023 U/S 7/25 IA ACT, 13,18,23,39 UAPA was registered in Police Station Sheeri and investigation was started. During the course of investigation and upon their disclosure, two more persons namely Altaf Ahmad Rather son of Ab Ahad Rather resident of Kawhar and Farooq Ahmad Naqeeb son of Ab Gaffar Naqeeb resident of Kunzar were picked up for questioning.

During questioning both Altaf Ahmad Rather and Farooq Ahmad Naqeeb confessed that they possessed  arms & ammunition. Upon disclosure 2 hand grenades were recovered from both the accused and subsequently were arrested in the instant case, he said.

During investigation it came to surface that all the four accused persons were working for Terrorist Associate Mudasir Ahmad Sheikh son of Ab Rashid Sheikh resident of Kunzer in the past who is presently lodged under PSA. Further investigation is going on, reads the statement.
