DLSA organises Legal Awareness programme at Ganderbal

Ganderbal, May 19: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Ganderbal today organised a Legal Awareness programme on Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961 and the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005, at Legal Literacy club, Government High School, Kondabal Safapora, Ganderbal.

The programme was held under the supervision of Chairman DLSA Ganderbal, Ritesh Kumar Dubey and under the guidance of Secretary DLSA Ganderbal, Nusrat Ali Hakak.

The event was attended by the Advocate of DLSA Ganderbal, principal, teachers, staff members and students of Government High School, Kondabal, Safapora besides PLVs of DLSA, Ganderbal.

The main aim of this legal awareness programme was to educate students, particularly female students, about their legal rights and remedies in cases of dowry harassment and domestic violence.

The programme was spearheaded by Advocate Asif Mustafa, who highlighted the legal provisions regarding women’s rights, and discussed the legal procedures for reporting and seeking redressal for any violations or offences under the acts.

This programme was a part of ongoing efforts of DLSA Ganderbal to promote legal literacy and empower women to assert their legal rights. Raising awareness about the Dowry Protection Act and Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act is crucial in preventing and addressing incidents of dowry harassment and domestic violence, which continue to affect many women in our society.

Teachers, students of Government High School, Kondabal, Safapora also participated actively in the programme.

The event was attended by a huge number of students who were very keen to learn about these Acts/Laws.
