ACS chairs SLEC meeting, emphasizes speedy implementation of horticulture projects under MIDH

Jammu, May 1: Additional Chief Secretary, Agriculture Production, Atal Dulloo, today chaired State Level Executive Committee (SLEC) of Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) regarding proposed annual action plan for the current financial year held here at Civil Secretariat.

ACS, who is also the chairman of SLEC, emphasized the need for planning massive high-density plantation across Jammu and Kashmir divisions. He had detailed discussion on rejuvenation activities suggested by Mangla Rai Committee. He enquired about the status of funds and called for swift planning and execution of projects.

“We have to bring massive progress in horticulture and allied sectors across Jammu & Kashmir within a short period of time, said Atal Dulloo, while stressing the importance of effective utilisation of funds for the development of the sectors in the UT”, he maintained.

ACS was briefed about district wise activities planned for increasing vegetable production including establishment of cold storages, CA stores, pick-up vans and other infrastructure. Besides, plans for establishing smart-automated and regular greenhouses were also presented before the ACS.

The meeting also discussed various other activities including protected cultivation, cultivation of exotic crops, plantation infrastructure development, flower cultivation, aromatic plants, organic farming, horticulture mechanisation, human resource development and post-harvest management.

ACS instructed departmental heads and other members to utilise all funds effectively and implement them for development of horticulture sector in the UT.

At Jammu, the meeting was attended by committee members including Director Agriculture, KK Sharma; Director Horticulture, Ram Savak; Assistant Director Planning besides others while officers from Kashmir including Director Horticulture Production and Marketing, Vikas Sharma and others participated online.
