“SKIMS Observes World Kidney Day”

Srinagar, Mar 9 :The Department of Nephrology Sher-I-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) observed World Kidney Day today to raise awareness on kidney health with focus on this year’s theme “Kidney Health For All:  Preparing for the unexpected, Supporting the Vulnerable”

Director SKIMS & EOSG Prof. Parvaiz A Koul in his address congratulated the department for being the frontrunner in Kidney healthcare delivery services in and outside UT of J&K.

He said the department is providing excellent nephrology services and appreciated the department for conducting such programs in sensitizing participants / stakeholders  and raising awareness about kidney heath. The department is also contributing significantly in  academic and research, he added.

Prof. Rubbani, Principal Medical College SKIMS while speaking on the occasion lauded department of the Nephrology for their services, besides creating lot of social support system for vulnerable through many initiatives.

Dean Medical Faculty Prof. Bashir A. Laway in his address emphasized on curtailment of unregulated use of medicine. He also  congratulated department of Nephrology for organising these awareness programs to educate people about kidney diseases.

Dr. Mohammad Ashraf Bhat HOD Nephrology & Organising chairman of the event in his welcome address highlighted the functioning of the department and underscored the importance of the World Kidney Day to raise awareness and educate people about kidney diseases affecting millions of the people worldwide. Medical Superintendent SKIMS Dr. Farooq A. Jan also spoke on the occasion.

During the program a series of lectures on significant  topics were delivered by experts which included  Overview of the World Kidney Day, Sugar & Kidney, Save Your Kidney. Also a panel discussion which was chaired by senior faculty members was conducted. The program was concluded with vote of thanks.
