‘Man Apprehended While Carrying Over 57 Lakh Cash in Handwara’


Srinagar, Jan 11 : A person was apprehended by police for carrying over fifty-seven lakh cash concealed in a geyser in Handwara area in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.Officials in knowhow of the recovery told GNS that one person named Syed Irfan Abdullah, son of Mohd Abdullah, resident of Laribal, Handwara was apprehended carrying cash concealed in a geyser, during a naka checking at Braripora Handwara.

The recovered cash, the officials said, was counted in presence of the Magistrate, and the total amount came in tune of rupees 57,43,800.

Confirming the recovery, a police officer told GNS that cognizance has been taken and an FIR number 6/2023 registered under relevant sections for further investigations.
