DC Ganderbal chairs Road Safety Committee meeting

Ganderbal, Jan 2: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir who is also (Chairman Road Safety Committee) today convened a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee to discuss the implementation of the traffic management plan in the district.

During the meeting, detailed discussion was held on the road safety measures, identification of black spots, awareness programs, parking bays at regular intervals, signage plan, upgradation of roads, installation of crash barriers and other measures.

While interacting with the committee members, the DC said that identification of road accident black spots is the first step towards the solution of road accidents especially on National Highway and directed all the concerned to identify such spots on all roads of the district.

He exhorted upon the concerned to coordinate in streamlining the traffic management to evade traffic congestion in the district adding that road safety is the prevention and protection of road accidents by using all the road safety measures.

The DC directed the BEACON authorities to install proper signage boards and crash barriers in the accident prone areas on National Highway especially Gagangeer onwards for which it was informed that the five spots for installation of crash barriers has been identified in the area and work shall be started soon.

He further directed all the committee members for organizing special road safety awareness camps and generating necessary awareness among the masses throughout the district.

The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner, Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani; SDM Kangan, Javaid Ahmad Rather; SE, R&B, Executive Engineers of PMGSY, R&B and I&FC, EO Municipality, ARTO and other committee members.
