Fire damages five houses in Old Town Baramulla

Srinagar, May 7 : Five houses were damaged in a devastating fire break in old town Baramulla in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Saturday afternoon.

Official sources told GNS that a team of police and fire officials reached the spot soon after getting the information.

They said that fire started in a residential house and engulfed at least four others in no time. The flames were brought under control by fire and emergency department with the help of police and locals. Among the houses damaged, four are 2-storeyed and one is 3-storey.  In all houses, attic portions were completely damaged, they said.

A fire and emergency department told GNS said that 8 tenders were rushed to the spot. Reason for fire was not immediately known and is being investigated, officials said. There are no reports regarding injury to any person in the incident.
