Principal Secretary e-launches YSS Cup 2022; Asks for involving PRIs in sports activities

Jammu, April 7: Principal Secretary, Youth Services and Sports (YSS), Alok Kumar, today e-launched YSS Cup 2022 at Directorate of Youth Services and Sports, MA Stadium, here today.

He asked the concerned for ensure involvement of all Panchayat Raj Institutions (PRIs) in sports activities being held in their respective areas. He also directed them to invite DDCs, BDCs, Corporators, Sarpanchs and Panchs to attend the sports events being held across the Union Territory.

Principal Secretary also asked the officers to make oath taking ritual for elimination of drugs mandatory during the inaugural ceremonies of sports events besides educating youth about the ill effects of drugs.

Director Youth Services and Sports, Gazanfar Ali; Deputy Director (Jammu), Jitender Mishra and Deputy Director (Planning), Ravi Kumar Sharma were present on the occasion.

Principal Secretary asked for ensuring impartial and transparent registration of players besides making sure that the venues selected for sports events should preferably be in Panchayats. He said that there should not be any bar for the teams and players who had participated in YSS Cup-2021 and the registration should be open for all.

He added that choosing venues at various Panchayats for holding the sports activities will serve twin purpose of developing playfields and saturating sports equipment at Panchayat level.

Principal Secretary said that the dignitaries who grace the inaugural and closing ceremonies of various sports events should always make it a point to deliberate on ill effects of drugs and other social evils.

Principal Secretary asked the officers to start preparing for celebration of National Panchayat Day, falling on April 24, in a befitting manner.

Director Sports presented an overview of activities and achievements of the department.
