Comm Secy Social Welfare inaugurates 7-day Marketing Exhibition at Jammu Haat

Jammu, Mar 25: Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare, Sheetal Nanda, today inaugurated seven day Marketing Exhibition at Jammu Haat.

The exhibition is being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes Corporation to promote beneficiaries  of the Corporation and  give them an opportunity to display and sale their products. The exhibition is being sponsored by the Social Welfare Department.

Nanda inspected all the stalls set up by the beneficiaries who come from all over Jammu & Kashmir, to display and sell their products which they have made with the loan assistance provided by the Corporation and interacted with individual beneficiaries.

She expressed satisfaction over the initiatives taken by the Corporation to bring the working /achievements of the corporation to a desired level.

Later, Managing Director of the Corporation, Mohammad Saleem Malik, presented details of achievements made by the Corporation. He informed that the corporation under its various schemes, so far, has provided loan assistance to the tune of Rs.285.40 crore to 39904 beneficiaries for setting up of income generating units which is inclusive of Rs.195.56 crore to 9585 beneficiaries under Direct Financing Scheme and Rs.90.03 crore to 30319 beneficiaries under Bank Tie-up Schemes.

It was also given out by the MD that during the current financial year Corporation has provided loan assistance to the tune of Rs. 53.16 crore to 2337 beneficiaries which is ever highest so far.

Commissioner Secretary appreciated the role of the Managing Director in raising the achievements to the new heights. She also asked the officers of the Corporation to gear up their efforts to make the corporation an ideal service institution and give the awareness of the schemes to the target group so that the schemes of the Corporation may reach to the deserving persons at grass root level .

She also asked the participants’ beneficiaries to give wide publicity of the schemes and programmes of the Corporation in their respective areas so that every desirous/genuine person of the target group could be benefited from these schemes.

Besides, a large gathering, Rakesh Dubey, ADC (G), Jammu,  Shuba Metha, General Manager, DIC, Jammu, Tilak Raj, Divisional Officer KVIB, Jammu, Secretary, Social Welfare Board, senior officers  from various departments and officers of the Corporation participated in the programmes.
