2,400 new COVID-19 cases in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, Jan 7: A record 2,400 fresh instances of novel coronavirus infection and one fatality – in Bilaspur district – were reported in Chhattisgarh over the past 24 hours during which 48,832 samples were analysed and 56 individuals recuperated, Health Department sources said.

Cases thus spurted by more than one-and-a-half times and the active ones number 6,905 even as the positivity rate touched 4.91 per cent. The district-wise break-up of new infections includes Raipur 752, Bilaspur 326, Durg 314, Raigarh 247, Jashpur 144, Janjgir-Champa 126, Korba 122, Surguja 55, Koriya 54 and Rajnandgaon 46.
