Labourer from UP dies of asphyxiation, two still unconscious

Shopian, Nov 2,: A non-local labourer has reportedly died of ‘asphyxiation’ in South Kashmir’s Shopian district while two others are undergoing treatment at District Hospital Anantnag.

Police sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that three persons including two non-locals from Uttar Pradesh were brought to Zainapora Shopian health facility in unconscious state.

The sources identified the trio as 20-year-old Ansar Ahmed and 22-year old Azim Jan from UP and Ubaid Bashir Parra from Homehana village of Nagbal Shopian.

They said among the trio, Ansar died while two others were shifted to district hospital Anantnag. The cause of death and unconscious state of two labourers is being ascertained.

Sources however, said that prima facie asphyxiation seems to be the cause of the death of non-local labourer.

Police in this regard have registered a case and taken up the investigation. All the three persons were working at a local workshop. (KNT)
