India registers 16,862 new Covid-19 cases, 379 deaths in last 24 hours

New Delhi, Oct 15 (UNI) India has registered 16,862 new Covid-19 cases in past 24 hours and 379 deaths, pushing the overall toll tally to 45,1814, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Friday.

According to the latest data by the Ministry, the recovery rate has touched 98.07 per cent as 19,391 patients recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours. The total number of recovered patients stands at 3,33,82,100.

However, the active caseload is at 0.61 per cent with 2,03,678 people still fighting against the virus, the lowest in over last seven months.

“The daily positivity rate is 1.43 per cent, which is less than 3 per cent for last 46 days, whereas weekly positivity rate is 1.42 per cent which also remains less than 3 per cent for the last 112 days now,” the Ministry said.

In the last 24 hours, India administered 27,62,523 vaccine doses as the coverage exceeded 97 crore-mark as per provisional reports till 7 am on Friday, the Ministry said.

According to the data, more than 100 crore doses have been provided to states/UTs so far through the direct state procurement.

“More than 10.53 crore balance and unutilised Covid-19 vaccine doses are still available with the states/UTs to be administered,” the data said.
