Congress indulging in vote bank politics over Lakhimpur incident: BJP

New Delhi Oct 6 (UNI) BJP on Wednesday slammed Rahul Gandhi for his allegations that farmers were being “systematically attacked” and accused him of indulging in vote bank politics over the “unfortunate incidents” in Lakhimpur Kheri, where nine people were killed including four farmers.

Addressing a press conference here the party Spokesperson Sambit Patra said, “Today Rahul Gandhi’s comments on Lakhimpur incident, particularly at a time when the investigation is going on has reflected his insensitivity towards the situation.

On Wednesday Rahul Rahul Gandhi said the farmers were being “systematically attacked” in the country, and targetted the government for “insulting” them.”

He alleged that Rahul Gandhi is trying to disturb peace and is attempting to spread confusion in the country by making such remarks.

“Irresponsibility has become become the second name of Rahul Gandhi” alleged Patra.

“Rahul ji, you are trying to cultivate votes, you should avoid it.” he added.

Rebutting the Rahul’s comments that the Post-mortems are not happening properly, Sambit Patra said, “If no one raised questions on the postmortem, then Rahul Gandhi is trying to disturb the atmosphere by spreading confusion even though he is not an expert. Gandhi family has nothing to do with farmers. They have only to do with their own family.”

He called Lakhimpur Kheri incident “unfortunate” and went on to condemn the lathi-charged incident on farmers in Hanumangarh district of Rajasthan

“In Rajasthan, some farmers went in front of the administration for the purchase of paddy, they were lathi-charged, those farmers are hospitalized today, did Rahul Gandhi talk to the Chief Minister of the state on this?

Rahul Gandhi wants to go to Lakhimpur Kheri, but did he care for the farmers of Rajasthan?” he asked.

On Monday, the police lathi-charged the farmers protesting at the Hanumangarh district collectorate demanding the purchase of paddy crop on MSP.

Many farmers have reportedly suffered minor injuries due to this.

The demand of the farmers was that the state government should write a letter to the central government regarding the purchase of paddy on the support price.
