India to issue emergency visas for Afghans

New Delhi, Aug 17 (UNI) Union Home Ministry on Tuesday announced a new category of emergency visa for people from Afghanistan.

“MHA reviews visa provisions in view of the current situation in Afghanistan. A new category of electronic visa called “e-Emergency X-Misc Visa” introduced to fast-track visa applications for entry into India,” the Home Ministry said in a tweet.

The Taliban entered Kabul on Sunday, after which President Ashraf Ghani fled the country.

Taliban has seized control of around 25 of 34 provincial capitals, including cities such as Kandahar, Herat, Mazar-e-Sharif and Jalalabad.
