Home ministry denies Badal’s claim of interaction with Shah

New Delhi, Aug 14: Home Ministry on Friday rubbished the Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal’s claim that he has met and urged the Home Minister Amit Shah to review the centre’s decision to appoint a full-fledged administrator for Chandigarh.

Home Ministry Spokesperson in a tweet said, the apprehension expressed in Badal to review the Union Government’s decision to appoint a full fledged Administrator for Chandigarh by divesting the Governor of Punjab of this charge is unfounded.

“It is clarified that the Union Government has not taken on any decision of divesting Punjab Governor of this responsibility of Chandigarh Administrator and neither is any such proposal under contemplation,” said the Spokesperson.

The ministry also clarified that Sukhbir Singh Badal has not raised the issue with the Home Minister.

On Thursday, Badal said in a tweet that the centre decided to appoint a full-fledged administrator for Chandigarh by divesting the Punjab governor of this charge. He also claimed in the twitter that it’s another attempt to dilute Punjab’s claim to its capital city which is totally unacceptable.

Shiromani Akali Dal was a former ally with BJP and parted ways on the issues of new farm bills.
