India sees 3,23,144 new nCoV cases, 2771 deaths

New Delhi, Apr 27:India registered 3,23,144 fresh cases of COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, taking the country’s tally to 1,76,36,307, according to the data updated by the Union Health Ministry on Tuesday morning.

Besides, the country also saw 2771 fatalities in the past 24 hours, pushing the death toll to 1,97,894.The active caseload in the country is 28,82,204 comprising 16.34 per cent of the total infections while 1,45,56,209 people have recovered from disease so far amounting 82.54 per cent of the recovery rate.

Meanwhile, the case fatality rate dropped to 1.12 per cent from Monday’s 1.13 per cent. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 28,09,79,877 samples have been tested so far for coronavirus, of which 16,58,700 were tested in the past one day.

On the vaccination front, a total of 14,52,71,186 people have been vaccinated across the country till now, of which 33,59,963 doses administered in the past 24 hours.

Maharashtra, which has been the worst-affected state in the country, on Monday saw a sharp drop in daily Covid-19 cases with 48,700 fresh infections. The state also reported 524 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of deaths to 65,284.

Karnataka (14,627 total deaths), Delhi (14,628 deaths), Tamil Nadu (13,651) and UP (11,414) have been the other worst-hit states in the country.

On Monday, India registered 3,52,991 fresh cases of Coronavirus and 2812 casualties, which was the highest single-day spike in terms of cases and deaths since the pandemic hit.
