05 Drug peddlers arrested by Police in Anantnag & Pulwama

April 01: Police in a series of action against drug dealings have arrested five drug peddlers in Anantnag & Pulwama. Contraband substance recovered from their possession.

In Anantnag, Officers at a checkpoint established at Akura bridge Mattan intercepted three persons identified as Nisar Ahmad Bhat resident of Peth Nambal, Jehangir Yousuf wani resident of Rampora and Nisar Ahmad Bhat resident of Mattan. During checking, officers were able to recover 400gms of cannabis powder and 4.3kgs of bung from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Accordingly, a case FIR No. 19/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Mattan and investigation has been initiated.

In Pulwama, officers established two checking points at Naina Litter and Batpora Litter in the jurisdiction of Police Station Litter. At these checking points, officers’ intercepted two suspicious persons identified as Shabir Ahmad Bhat resident of Nowgam Verinag Anantnag and Ghulam Nabi Matoo resident of Naina Litter. During checking, officers were able to recover 300 grams of Charas and 70 grams Brown sugar (Heroine) from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, cases vide FIR numbers 11/2021 & 12/2021 under relevant sections of law have been registered in Police Station Litter and further investigation has been initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.

Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
