Nine killed in road accident in UP

Agra, Mar 11 :  At least nine people of Bihar were killed and three others were injured when an SUV collided with a container on the Agra-Kanpur national highway in the early hours of Thursday.

Police said that the accident took place in front of the Mandi Committee in Etmaduddhala area around 0530 hrs.

Superintendent of Police, Botre Rohan Pramod said that the Jharkhand number SUV was going towards Mathura from Tundla. Then suddenly the vehicle got out of control and jumped the divider and went in the other direction from where a container was coming Agra’s Rambagh, leading to the collision.

Eight people died on the spot in the accident and four were severely injured. The injured were admitted to the hospital for treatment, one of which died in the hospital.

The accident was so severe that after nearly an hour of effort, people trapped in SUV could come out. In the SUV, 12 people, including the driver, are said to be aboard.

The deceased were identified as Guddu Kumar, Bablu Prajapati, Vikas Kumar, Rajesh, Nagendra Kumar, Surendra Kumar, Car Driver Anil, Aman and Bipin.
