Abu Dhabi, Mar 11: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will travel to the United Arab Emirates on Thursday, in what will be the first official visit by an Israeli leader.
The trip aims to cement ties between Israel and the Arab nation after they agreed to establish full diplomatic relations in a historic announcement in August.
The UAE became the third Arab country to normalize relations with the Jewish state and the first in nearly three decades. The s-called Abraham Accords were signed this fallalong with Bahrain under the auspices of the US.
Netanyahu’s visit comes less than two weeks ahead of legislative elections which will put his leadership to test. This will be the fourth election in almost two years.
