Girl student attempts suicide after failing in Class 10 exam ‘18,626 students cut a sorry figure’

Budgam, Feb 26: After failing to clear the Secondary School Examination (Class 10) a 15-year-old girl student from Central Kashmir’s Budgam district attempted to end her life by consuming poison on Friday.

The girl student (name withheld), daughter of Muhammad Akbar Dar is a resident of Buzgoo village in Chadura of Budgam district. Sources told Kashmir News Trust that on finding out that she has cut a sorry figure in the examination, she tried ending her life by consuming some poisonous substance at home.

The family members immediately took her to Sub District Hospital Chadura where doctors referred her to SMHS Hospital Srinagar.

Hospital sources said that she is undergoing treatment and her condition is stable.

Pertinently, the data available with KNT reveals that 18,626 students this time could not qualify the examinations.

The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education on Friday morning declared the Class 10 annual regular results for Kashmir division.

As per information from JKBOSE, of the total 75,132 students who appeared in the board exams 76.09 percent have girls passed while 74.04 percent boys have passed these examinations.

Of the total students 9,441 passed in grade A, 11,347 in A2 and 11,050 in B1 grade. However 18,626 could not qualify the examinations.

Various students have secured 100% marks in this examination. Some of those students are Tabasum Gulzar, who belongs to Watalbagh area of Ganderbal and Saqib Bhat, a resident of Handew Shopian. (KNT)
