Srinagar mayor anguished at crowds at J&K Bank branches

Srinagar, April 06:

Srinagar Mayor Junaid Azim Mattu on Monday expressed deep concern over the huddling of customers at the branches of Jammu and Kashmir bank.
“Deeply concerned at the visuals of huddled crowds at various branches of J&K Bank. I”ve spoken to the Bank officials and asked them to take effective steps. It”s a big institution and I”m sure it can resolve this with some extra effort. Let”s not leave everything to police”, the Mayor said in his tweet today.
J&K Bank has the largest presence by way of number of branches in J&K. The bank is also the service window for all the government servants in the union territory.
Customers are advised to maintain the required distance while visiting the Bank”s branches.
But, hundreds of poor underprivileged, elderly people who get monthly support from social welfare department are forced to visit the branches in large numbers each month.
With hardly any balance left in these accounts after withdrawal of paltry monthly pensions, such account holders are not issued any ATM cards. –IANS
