FCS&CA Deptt B’la distributes free essentials among poor families, non-local labours

BARAMULLA, APRIL 06: As part of the district administration’s initiative of providing essential commodities in a hassle free manner in the wake the prevailing circumstances that emerged due to COVID-19 outbreak, the Department of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Baramulla, distributed various food items including rice, flour and oil among the needy people, including local destitute families and non-local labours.

Elaborating the Assistant Director, FCS&CA, Shiekh Tariq Ahmad, said that about 500 ration packets have been supplied among 2500 non-local labours and 500 local destitute families, identified by the local community representatives across the district.

He further said that food items are also being supplied on daily basis to the 2300 non locals which have been accommodated in government established shelters by the administration. He added that the distribution has been carried out throughout the district under the supervision of concerned Tehsildars.

Meanwhile, Shiekh Tariq informed that 2 months advance ration will be distributed among the people upto 25th of April after which free ration of 5 kg per person, per month will be distributed among 6.13 lakh souls belonging to AAY/PHH households for successive three months. The free ration will be distributed among the eligible beneficiaries in addition to the prescribed allocation, he said.

He informed that out of 106055.90 quintals of ration, 55125 quintals have been distributed upto 5th April for the month current month.

Moreover, he said that administration is scaling up the efforts for streamlining the distribution of essential commodities at the door steps of 1005501 registered souls of Baramulla district under various categories.
