COVID-19: Several villages declared red zones to prevent spread of disease in Kupwara

Kupwara, April 5 (GNS): In wake of the first six positive cases for coronavirus in Kupwara district, the administration here on Sunday declared several areas as red zones and their surrounding villages as buffer zones to prevent the spread of the pathogen.

The villages Baghbella, Tangdhar and the Quarantine Centre at ITI Handwara are declared as red zones while as the areas adjoining to these villages as buffer zones and the inhabitants of these areas shall also restrict their movement and shall not allow relatives/visitors to visit their homes without written permission of Administrator concerned, reads an order issued by the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Anshul Garg (IAS).

“Consequently there shall be no inward or outward movement of any person(s) from said spots and the people shall stay indoors as there will be complete lockdown in both the places”.

CDPO Tandhar and Tehsildar Handwara shall act as administrators for red and buffer zones declared in their respective jurisdictions as indicated above. Further, the administrators shall ensure screening of Households in the Red Zone and furnish information as per the prescribed format and submit the information to this office by 1:00 PM on daily basis, the order reads.

“The Administrators shall be assisted by Concerned BDOs and all the officers of the line departments to ensure the availability of basic facilities including food grains, LPG, medicines etc in the red/buffer zones. They shall promptly respond to medical emergencies and the concerned BMOs shall dedicate one ambulance each for their respective areas,” the order reads.

Any person/group/organization found involved in the breach of this order shall be booked under relevant laws, the order added. (GNS)
