MHA sanctions Rs 365 Cr for ICP at Sabroom in Tripura

Agartala, Mar 12: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has sanctioned Rs 365 Cr
for setting up of ICP at Sabroom, the southern border of Tripura with Bangladesh,
Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said here today.
The matter was intimated during the meeting between home minister Amit Saha and
chief minister Deb last week in Delhi where there had been a range of issues were
discussed between both the leaders regarding development projects of the state.
Later, Deb had met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi too.
Deb stated, “Earlier, in-principal permission was given for the proposed ICP at
Sabroom but the matter was pending. In my recent meeting with the Union Home
Minister in New Delhi, the matter was discussed in detail. Yesterday, I was informed
over the phone that the Centre has approved the ICP of Rs. 365 crore under a
single scheme.”
He mentioned that due to persuasion of his government, Tripura has received an
additional fund of Rs 2500 Cr in last two years and several other projects have been
under active consideration of the central government.
Moreover, state and central governments are now working together for the
development of the indigenous people of Tripura, Deb added.
He pointed out that the state government had already sent a special package of
around Rs 8803 Cr for ADC development to Union Home Ministry for approval.”
Deb said that the state government was working to ensure equal growth in ADC
and non-ADC areas.
Addressing a gathering here Deb claimed that Tripura is set to receive
‘fastest-growing’ state award on March 27 next.
The Rural Development department has received altogether 13 awards in just
two years,” he said and added, “Now, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a letter
informed that Tripura will be awarded as fastest-growing state of the country while
Agartala will receive the award as fastest-growing city”.
