Railways have taken up 189 New Line Projects as on April 1: Govt

New Delhi, :  Government on Wednesday informed the Lok Sabha that Railways have taken up 189 New Line Projects in the country as on April 1.
In a written reply to a question of construction of new Lines and Road Over Bridges (ROBs) during Question Hour, Railways Minister Piyush Goyal said ‘ As on April 1, Indian Railways have taken up 189 New Line Projects of length 2555 km, costing Rs 3, 74, 753 crore, which are in different stages of execution/planning/sanction. This includes 20 New Line Projects in Karnataka covering a length of 2,501.72 km costing Rs 26,393 crore and are under different stage of execution/planning/sanction.’
Out of which, 244.55 Km length has been commissioned and an expenditure of Rs 2,927.63 crore has been incurred till March. Further, 42 Number of Road Over Bridges (ROBs) have been
sanctioned in Karnataka on cost sharing basis.
Railway projects are sanctioned zone-wise and the expenditure on New Line projects up to March
has been Rs 76,917 crore.
