Tura MP Agatha Sangma misses chance to propose Birla’s name as Speaker

New Delhi, :  NPP Member of Parliament Agatha Sangma on Wednesday missed the opportunity to propose the name BJP lawmaker Om Birla as the Speaker of the Lok Sabha.
According to listed agenda, the Tura MP’s name was listed as one of the proposers but as she was not present in the House – she could not move the proposal.
Her proposal was supposed to have been supported by C Lalrosanga of Mizo National Front.
The proposals in favour of Mr Birla to be elected as Speaker of the 17th Lok Sabha was moved by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury among others.
Earlier, Anubhav Mohanty, an actor-turned-lawmaker from Odisha belonging to BJD took oath as member of the House.
