New Delhi, : The Congress on Wednesday condemned the alleged thrashing of an Uttar Pradesh journalist by a group of Railway Police personnel and demanded strict action against the culprits.
‘This barbarism must be dealt with strict action. However, the illegal detention & subsequent harassment of another journalist in UP points to a graver problem with the State. Is there no place for free speech & democracy under @myogiadityanath’s rule?,’ the Congress said on its official Twitter handle.
The video, that has gone viral on social media shows the journalist punched, slapped and abused by a group of policemen as he pleads with them to stop.
The journalist said a group of Railway Police personnel locked him up and abused him on Tuesday night when he was covering the derailment of a train.
