Five women of family killed in Karnataka road accident

Chitradurga, : In a gruesome road accident, Five women belonging to the same family, were killed near Metakurkin village in Hiriyur taluk in the district on Wednesday evening.
According to police sources the mishap occurred when the ill-fated vehicle in which they were travelling, jumped off the lane and fell on the other side of the Bengaluru-Pune National Highway, colliding with a truck.
The car driver was severely injured and admitted to the hospital, in Hiriyur.
Bursting of tyre of the vehicle, is said to be the cause for the mishap, the sources said.
The victims were identified as Thayamma (59), Sushmita (12), Latha (26), Veenika (03) and Janavi (03).
The Hiriyur police are investigating into the incident, the sources added.
