Firing during speculative CASO by Army in south Kashmir

Srinagar, Feb 8 (UNI): Security forces and militants exchanged fire during speculative Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in south Kashmir district of Anantnag on Monday, a defence ministry spokesman said this afternoon.

He said a speculative CASO was launched by troops at village Matipur, North-West of Khanabal in Anantnag district this morning.

He said troops fired two rounds in the air at 1100 hrs. However, at 1115 hrs militants returned the fire, he said adding the operation was going on when the reports last came in.

Further details are awaited, he said.
