Vehicle with illegal timber seized in Langate: PHOTO KNT

Handwara, Feb 1, KNT: Forest Department employees seized a Tata-mobile vehicle carrying illegal timber in North Kashmir’s Handwara, however, driver managed to escape from the spot.

Sources said that Forest Division Langate after receiving inputs created a check-point at Shanoo Langate.

“A Tata-mobile (JKO9-2724) loaded with illicit timber was stopped at the check point. The driver taking advantage of the darkness, managed to escape from the spot,” said an official to KNT.

He said the vehicle was carrying 28.95 CFt illegal timber that was seized along with the vehicle. The timber was taken to Control Room Langate.

Range Officer Mawar, Muhammad Shafi Malla confirmed the seizure of vehicle with illicit timber said they are investigating the matter and trying to find out where this timber was brought. (KNT)
